Murray County is a safe place to live and play
In Murray County there are seven volunteer fire departments, two small city police departments and a county sheriff’s department. According to Emergency Management Director Carl Nyquist, there are approximately 150 volunteer firefighters in the county, many of whom are also medical first responders. There are two volunteer ambulance services in Murray County.
The peace officers, firefighters, first responders and ambulance personnel are our friends and neighbors. Their kids go to our schools. We see their families at church and the grocery store, in our parks, when we go out for dinner or ice cream, and in all parts of our daily lives.
