Avoca is located in the eastern part of Murray County and has a population of 133 residents. It is six miles southeast of Slayton on Highway 59 and six miles north of Fulda. Avoca is within the boundaries of Lime Lake Township.

 

The lakeshore of Lime Lake wraps around the north and west side of Avoca. The Lime Lake County Park has a boat launch, picnic shelter, horseshoe pits and campsites with water and sewer facilities.

 

The City of Avoca has a municipal liquor store, two city parks and a veterans memorial.
