The City of Chandler is located in the scenic Chanarambie Valley in western Murray County and is home to 242 residents. It is approximately 25-30 miles from both the South Dakota and Iowa borders. Because of the glacial periods, Chandler is surrounded by some very interesting and unique land formations. North of Chandler is the famous “Buffalo Ridge.” The tip of the ridge is over 1900 feet above sea level and is one of the highest points in the state.
Many businesses have started and expanded over the years. Agriculture continues to be the lifeblood of the community with a mixture of grain and livestock in the surrounding area. Windpower has also made it big in the Chandler area with several towers constructed to provide a clean, renewable source of energy to many people.
Chandler is also home to the largest employer in Murray County, Monogram Foods.
